What are the opening hours ?

It is strongly recommended to book your visit to Château Balestard La Tonnelle in advance or to contact us by phone before arriving to ensure we can welcome you under the best conditions.

How do I get to the château ?


Château Balestard La Tonnelle is located 800 meters from the village of Saint-Émilion, which is a 10-minute walk. We have a free parking lot for cars and buses located next to the 15th-century watchtower.

 Is the château accessible to people with reduced mobility (PRM)?

 All our facilities and experiences are adapted for people with reduced mobility. If you are coming by car, we have designated parking spaces in front of the château's shop.

 Can I come by public transport from Bordeaux or Saint-Émilion ?

Absolutely! We are located a 10-minute walk from the Saint-Émilion roundabout bus stop and a 45-minute walk from the train station.

 Is there a minimum age to participate in a tasting ?​

Most of our tours are free for people under 18, but we are not allowed to serve them alcohol during the tasting.

Do you organize private events (weddings, seminars, etc.) ? 

Château Balestard La Tonnelle can be privatized for professional and personal events throughout the year. For more information, please visit our dedicated page.

Is it possible to just enjoy a drink on the rooftop ? 

Our property does not have a bar or dining service, but we can offer you a guided tasting of 3 wines on our rooftop, weather permitting. This tasting lasts 30 minutes. Rooftop evenings will be regularly organized to provide you with a relaxing moment on our panoramic terrace, where you can enjoy the sunset.​

Are dogs allowed during visits ? 

Dogs are allowed in the shop and on the rooftop but are not permitted in the production areas (barrel cellar and vat room). Only assistance dogs are allowed to accompany you throughout the visit.

Can I buy wines and souvenirs directly at the château ? 

Our shop is open during our opening hours, from 9 am to 6 pm, for the direct sale of wine and merchandise.
